Pricing a puppy
Determaning the price of a puppy is based on several things.
1. You start out with a base price which covers the cost of raising the pup (food, shots, & vet visits) from birth till they go to their permanent homes (8 weeks) this is usually between $200.00 to $500.00 depending on the breed of the dog and it's pedigree. Also weather it is show or pet quality.
SHOW: it has all the points and makings of a show dog
PET: It's a perfectly healthy pup it just does not have the proper points for making a show dog
2. Color, is it a single color or multicolor.
A) Single color: (example: Black) is it ALL black? if not how much if any white does it have. naturally
a pure black pup will sell for more then one with a little white. the more white the lower the cost.
3. 2 color (harlequin) all white with black patches not running together and the neck must be pure
white.
4. Other factors that determine a pup's show or pet quality are ( also listed in AKC's breed standards
Examples: tail (high or low on the butt)
head long or short, square or round, broad or narrow, flat nose bridge
Height a full growth (danes must be at least 36" for males, 33" females)
5. Parents: were they just standard danes or show champions, theirs parents, Pedigree. If there is a history of champions and grand champions in the family then they a worth a lot more.
6. Health: is there a history of hip, heart, kidney, thyroid, ot other problems. If they offer a 1 year health guarntee thats good but a 2 year is excellent.
